It is said there have been multiple failed attempt for making a biopic about Napoleon, the guy who commandeered millions of people marched across Europe, at one time, all the way to Russia, and over the course, 3 millions of solider died his cause.
It is said Stanley Kubrick has failed, even after a lifetime of trying. Really?
Why? This guy is full of stories, actions and romance.
The latest attempt by Ridley Scott, the director whose life work including The blade runner, The Gladiator, Alien, etc, is an epic movie about an epic man, with deep insecurity, inexplicable longing towards some woman whose husband was beheaded during the French revolution. Unexpectedly too, Napoleon is also a beautiful writer. Letters written in beautiful cursives, traveling back and forth through battlefields. I do not know how mail delivery was achieved at the time, some foot soldiers run errands in the time of battles?
I read that French people were quite unhappy about this modern, English take of their hero.
